The link below says it all. Just because you ask doesn't mean you'll get what you want, but you definitely won't get it by staying silent. So do remember to ask for things.
Do let people know that you want something. It could be a promotion, a vacation, more money or whatever. If somebody doesn’t know what you want how can they give it to you?
